What They're Saying
Rep. Mike Kelly, Chairman of the House Tax Subcommittee
Agriculture supports one out of every ten jobs in Pennsylvania, making this industry a leading economic driver in the commonwealth. The Supporting Innovation in Agriculture Act will allow for farmers and agricultural leaders to not only succeed today, but it will allow them to better utilize innovative technologies to allow producers to succeed for years to come.
Rep. Mike Thompson, Ranking Member of the House Tax Subcommittee
California’s specialty crop producers are critical to our state and national economy. These tax incentives will no doubt help bolster our specialty crop industry here at home and across our nation. It’s great to join my colleagues to introduce the Supporting Innovation in Agriculture Act to prompt innovation and keep our farmers competitive on the world stage.
Ted McKinney, CEO of the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture.
Accelerating the deployment of innovative technologies for specialty crop producers will strengthen the resilience of our fresh food supply chains and help producers across the country grow more food with fewer resources. NASDA applauds the introduction of the Supporting Innovation in Agriculture Act and thanks Chairman Kelly, Ranking Member Thompson, and the bill’s co-sponsors for their efforts to reduce barriers for producers adopting innovative technologies in their operations.
Statement from Jeff Witte, New Mexico Secretary of Agriculture:
Agriculture is in the greatest technological revolution in history due to the rising age of our producers and the need to address labor challenges and rising input costs. This act will provide tools for the next generation to get into specialty crop production and continue producing the crops, such as chile peppers, pecans and vegetables that consumers love. New Mexico is a great and diverse specialty crop state that will benefit from this act.
Statement from Jonathan Shell, Kentucky Agriculture Commissioner:
Investing in innovative farming technologies is an investment in the future of American agriculture. The Supporting Innovation in Agriculture Act of 2025 will help our specialty crop producers stay competitive, boost domestic food production, and strengthen our food security. By providing much-needed tax incentives, we can ensure that farmers have access to the tools they need to adapt, grow, and thrive in an ever-changing landscape.a
Statement from Greg Bird, Executive Director of the Michigan Vegetable Council:
Michigan is one of the best places for growing fruits and vegetables in the United States. Just like many others in the United States, the cost and availability of the workforce to grow fruits and vegetables has reached a level forcing acres to decline. Innovation has made strides to help producers manage a variety of needs, however early adopted innovation is never cheap. The Supporting Innovation in Agriculture Act will help bring innovation to farms which will help farmers across Michigan remain competitive and keep Michigan-grown fruits and vegetables on our plates.
